Congratulations to Ethan Jones who won a gold and silver medal in Barcelona.  Team Albatross travelled to Barcelona, Spain to compete in the Ciutat de Barcelona 2018 at the iconic Piscine Municipal de Montjuic.  This junior international competition brings divers together from across Europe to compete with their Spanish neighbours.  Alongside Ethan’s gold and silver the team brought home two bronze medals in the individual events, a silver in senior diving and a bronze from mixed synchronised diving.

Ethan jones competed an eight dive set in boys B+ to win the platform event with an impressive score of 328.35 points. James West placed 5th (283.85) and Quinn Shaw 7th (362.45). Ethan went on to win silver in the 3m springboard event (343.10).  James West joined Ethan on the podium winning the bronze medal (338.85).  Quinn Shaw finished 8th (303.35).  Fortunes were reversed on 1m with James West finishing in 4th (312.75), Quinn Shaw in 8th (277.45) and Ethan Jones 9th (232.50).

Finlay Cook led the A+ divers winning bronze in men’s platform (295.00).   Finlay placed 7th on 3m (356.50) and 5th on 1m (334.10.  Edward Beal finished 9th on 3m (307.60) and 7th on 1m (264.55).  In the women’s events Charlotte West finished 4th (270.55) and Lizzy Cullen 7th (243.35) on platform.  On 3m Charlotte was 6th (315.15) and Lizzie 9th (284.15). It was a similar result on 1m with Charlotte 7th (280.30 and Lizzie 11th (255.00).

Lizzie Cullen paired with Edward Beal competed in the mixed synchronised diving event finishing 5th with 162.18 points.  James West and Charlotte West won bronze with 227.04 points.

Ollie Breach entered the senior men’s diving 1m and platform.  Competing a set of 6 dives Ollie placed 2nd with 244.45 points.  Ollie was 7th on 1m (210.85)

The event was a fitting end to the summer diving season with lots of time for sight seeing and relaxing alongside the competition.
