Congratulations to Joe Foster who won gold in the boy’s age12-13 springboard event.  Joe was awarded mostly 7s and 7.5s for all his dives and was rewarded with an 8 for his forward one and a half somersaults from the 1 metre board (final score 178.50).  Joining Joe on the podium to take bronze was Finlay Stratford. Finlay excelled on his back falls from the 3m board scoring 7’s and 8’s and was also consistent on his 1m optional dives (final score 168.80).  Mathew Rex (144.65), Alexandre Mihalciuc (144.0) and Oliver Lawrence (140.30) also competed well taking 13th, 14th and 15th spots in this highly competitive event.

Max Roberts-Blaise and Alexei Milhaciuic were both competing in the boys 10-11 springboard event. Max shone with his forward tuck dive from 1m (22.20) to finish 10th  with 131.95 points.  Alexei also competed a strong forward tuck dive (22.20) alongside an inward (24.70) and forward somersault (24.70) to finish a few points ahead in 9th place with 134.15.

Congratulations also to Louise Blaise. Louise has recently passed her level one diving judges course and gained valuable practical experience judging at this event.  Anyone can volunteer to become a diving judge.  The preliminary courses are short and there is funding and support available.  Please do speak to a member of the Albatross coaching team if you are interested in training as a diving judge.

Gavin Brown – Love to Dive is an extremely popular  novice diving event held at The Quays Southampton.  The event, which attracts divers from across the region, is held in memory of Gavin Brown; a talented diver who went on to be an inspirational coach.  Gavin tragically died in 2007 at the age of 22 following a hit-and-run incident.  This annual novice meet offers up-coming divers the chance to compete their own choice of dives from both springboards. This competition experience is invaluable for divers who wish to progress.
